        Achnagairn House, Inverness

The sense of history which emanates from its wood panelling, the boldness of the design throughout the house and the quintessentially Scottish nature of the views from the main rooms combine to create an unforgettable experience.
As seductive a venue as any for weddings, as perfect a location as any for conferences and as relaxing a home as any for family groups; Achnagairn has it all.
Achnagairn is exclusive in both senses of the word. It is characterised by sumptuous luxury throughout and it is also an exclusive use venue. This means that it can only be hired as a whole and as a result you will never encounter the situation that often occurs in hotels.
The ballroom

The ballroom was built in 1911 for the 21st birthday party of the owners’ daughter. It has retained its original splendour, from the massive fireplace topped with the family’s coat of arms to the oak panelled walls and the hand carved gargoyles in the vaulted ceilings.
It seats up to 150 for a splendid sit down meal. There are 5ft round tables and red banqueting chairs. Adorned with flowers and candles, there is arguably no finer place to celebrate a wedding, special occasion or corporate get-together. A sense of history emanates from the stone walls and it is easy to imagine that this room has always been dedicated to gatherings of true significance. Standing proud above the ballroom is a minstrels gallery, accessed by two atmospheric stone staircases, which wind their way upwards past large stone windows.
The drawing room
The drawing room is one the most gracious rooms in the house. With its triple aspect view, the light pours in from all sides. The heavy drapes of green complemented with swags and tails add a sense of grandeur to the room, as does the elaborate fireplace of marble and stucco, topped with an original miniature oil. This a very comfortable area with seating for over 30 people in its elegant armchairs and sofas. The interior designer has created an atmosphere which blends new and old. Many of the armchairs have been acquired from the Savoy hotel where they adorned the ballroom and public areas. The stunning chandelier also came to Achnagairn directly from the Savoy hotel in London.
The reception hall
This magnificent wood panelled room, with its two massive fireplaces at each end, harks back to an era of true elegance. Through its ornate French window, guests can step out onto the patio leading to the front lawn and formal gardens. The room is a favourite for large gatherings. It connects with the Drawing Room through an almost hidden door, allowing guests to circulate freely.
The dining room
This elegant room seats about 50 people, and tends to be used for most meals by those staying in the house. With its hugely impressive stone fireplace and antlers on the wall, the dining room works beautifully for smaller formal meals, with the ballroom being used for larger numbers.
The bar
Just beyond the ballroom is the Achnagairn bar.
The courtyard
The house has a fully enclosed courtyard, which is an ideal place to have a drink or snack.
